PANELISTS

Stine Aasland, Founder, Nordic Waffles and co-chair of BARN's Executive Committee Michael Eimstad, Vice President Sales and Marketing, EpiGuard Anne Kari Johannessen Salbu, Board of directors and owner, Sylvsmidja Dale Wahlstrom, President and CEO, Act 3. Mentor and member of BARN Executive Committee   Imagine a country that loves waffles so much that it’s part of their culture.  That’s Norway, the birthplace of Nordic Waffle’s Founder Stine Aasland.  At age 19, Stine dreamed up the concept of transforming waffles into a hand-held experience.  From her small convenience store, she started the concept that would grow into one of the largest waffle companies in Norway.  Along the way, Stine’s passion earned her the title of “Waffle Queen” in her beloved homeland. Her entrepreneurial spirit was now fueled to take this revolution beyond the Nordic countries she love.  She came to America in search of her special heart-shaped waffles.  What she found was six doors of frozen waffles in the grocers freezer.  Stine knew we were a country with a similar passion for waffles, but knew we're so much more deserving of her better batter experience. EPi Guard is a Norwegian company established in 2015 by a group of doctors at the Oslo University Hospital, together with co-founders Inven2, Eker Group, and Hansen Protection. The company holds top level expertise with product development and manufacturing. The medical background ranges from intensive care, infectious diseases, internal medicine, and anesthesiology, through to transport medicine. Our first product is the EpiShuttle, which was developed by clinical experts with first-hand experience in providing advanced treatment and transportation of patients with highly infectious diseases, including Ebola. We aim to continue to develop and manufacture high-end medical equipment for safe transport of contagious patients.

Sylvsmidja is Norway’s leading manufacturer of silver jewelry for the country´s National Costume, the Norwegian Bunad. The company is rooted in long traditions of high quality handcraft. For more than 80 years our craftsmen have perfected the workmanship, and discovered the secrets of making Bunad Silver that will last for generations.

Our skilled silver- and goldsmiths have comprehensive experience and broad knowledge of the history and traditions necessary to make authentic Bunad Silver for all regions of Norway.

This symbol “an ancient drinking Horn”, is our unique registered hallmark that is stamped on all our products. The horn, shaped like the letter J, has been with us since Sylvsmidja’s founder, Master Goldsmith Leif Johannessen and his wife Betzy established the workshop in Voss in 1940.
