Meet Atlantic Bunkers AS

Atlantic Bunkers AS is a Norwegian maritime company based in Kristiansund, on Norway's west coast. Founded and owned by entrepreneur Hans Erik Meek, the company has grown from a marine fuel supplier into the primary company of Atlantic Group, a privately owned portfolio of maritime, industrial and commercial real estate businesses.

Hans Erik has spent many years building businesses by identifying opportunities, making sound long-term investments and surrounding himself with capable people.

Working alongside Hans Erik is Helge Fredriksen, who joined Atlantic Group after more than a decade with Odfjell Drilling and Odfjell Technology. Today, Helge serves in executive and board roles across several of the group's companies, with responsibility for business development, operations, strategy and execution.

Together, we combine different but complementary strengths, entrepreneurship, operational experience and a practical approach to building businesses.

Today, Atlantic Bunkers remains the group's primary operating company. The portfolio also includes investments in commercial real estate, industrial development, ownership interests in two ice-class expedition vessels, and maritime businesses, including SubEx AS, a specialist ROV company providing subsea cable installation, inspection and survey services.

Atlantic Bunkers is also involved in NASCAR through its sponsorship of Viking Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Over the past few years this has created valuable relationships across the United States and taken us to many parts of the country. Florida has gradually become the place where we now see the greatest long-term business potential.

Today, Florida represents more than a destination we visit regularly, it has become a place where we hope to establish our first business.

We are currently exploring different opportunities, one is to acquire an established marina or other waterfront-related business in the Volusia County area, ideally a well-managed company with experienced employees, a strong operating history and proven financial performance.

We are not looking for turnaround projects or speculative developments. Our preference is to acquire an established, well-managed business, preserve what already works well and continue developing it through long-term ownership and a strong focus on customer service.

While the maritime industry remains our primary area of interest, we are always open to discussing new business opportunities, investments and partnerships where our experience and long-term approach can add value.

Joining NACC Florida is a natural next step as we continue building relationships and exploring opportunities in Florida.
